Brake Pad Replacement
Request a QuoteReplacing worn brake pads with parts suited to your vehicle, and checking the discs they run against.
Your brakes are one of your vehicle's most important safety systems. If something doesn't feel or sound right, it's worth having it checked sooner rather than later.
From routine pad replacements to tracking down a braking fault, we'll explain what we find and agree the work with you before we start.
Replacing worn brake pads with parts suited to your vehicle, and checking the discs they run against.
Replacing worn, scored or warped discs together with new pads for even, reliable braking.
A check of pads, discs, hoses, fluid and the general condition of your braking system, with clear findings.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. Replacing it helps maintain braking performance.
Replacing seized, sticking or leaking calipers that can cause pulling, overheating or uneven pad wear.
Replacing damaged, perished or corroded brake hoses and pipes.
Removing air from the brake system to restore a firm, consistent pedal, often needed after other brake work.
Investigating and repairing handbrakes that feel weak, don't hold the vehicle or won't release properly.
Tracking down the cause of noises, vibration, pulling or a soft pedal before recommending a repair.
Investigating ABS warning lights and faults, explaining what we find and agreeing any repair with you.
Repair quotes are free and no-obligation. Every vehicle is different, so we quote individually: your quote depends on your vehicle, the parts needed, labour and, where relevant, diagnosis. We won't carry out additional chargeable work without your approval.
Brake components wear with every journey. Replacing them at the right time keeps stopping distances short and helps prevent more costly damage, such as worn pads scoring the discs.
Not sure what's causing the problem? You don't need to be. Choose Brakes & Brake Repairs when you book, tell us what you've noticed, and we'll take it from there.
Every CARBE workshop service includes a complimentary 50-point health check. We look over your vehicle's key systems and give you a clear report, so you know what's in good shape and what may need attention.
Your report rates each area green (good), amber (may need attention soon) or red (needs attention), with our findings and recommended actions. Anything we couldn't check is clearly marked as not checked.
The health check is a general visual and functional assessment. It isn't an MOT, a full diagnosis or a guarantee of your vehicle's condition, and it doesn't include dismantling, diagnostic scans or specialist testing. Any work we recommend is only carried out with your approval.
Common signs include squealing, grinding, reduced braking performance or a brake wear warning. However, pads can also become worn without obvious symptoms. An inspection is the most reliable way to assess their condition.
Not always. Brake discs can sometimes be retained if they meet the manufacturer's specifications and are in suitable condition. We'll check thickness, wear, damage and surface condition before recommending replacement.
Grinding may indicate severely worn brake pads, damaged discs or another braking problem. Continuing to drive could reduce braking performance and cause further damage. Arrange an inspection promptly and avoid driving if braking is affected.
A soft brake pedal may indicate air in the hydraulic system, fluid leaks or a hydraulic component problem. Because braking performance could be affected, avoid driving until the system has been assessed.
A brake warning light may indicate an applied parking brake, low brake fluid, worn pads or a braking system fault. If the warning remains on or braking feels abnormal, stop safely and seek professional advice.
Many manufacturers recommend brake fluid replacement around every two years, although requirements vary. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which can affect performance. Follow your vehicle's specified maintenance schedule.
Brake pad replacement commonly takes around 1–1.5 hours, while disc and pad replacement may take 1.5–3 hours. The exact time depends on the vehicle, axle and condition of the components.
Not all brake noises indicate immediate danger, but grinding, persistent squealing or changes in braking performance should not be ignored. If braking feels unsafe, stop driving and arrange professional assistance.
